Throughout my time in university, I have prioritised developing my skills by gaining practical and industry experience. I have been successful in this and emerge as a capable graduate with a rounded and developed skillset for various aspects of production. Most of my industry experience has come in the form of camera operation within sport and live performances, this ties in well with my experience in live streaming, as these are two areas where the livestream industry is growing. My ultimate aim is to become a Shooting Producer or to establish my own Podcast Production Company, using my creative and technical abilities to produce compelling multimedia content.

At Uddy TV in my position as stream director I was operating in a high pressure live environment, directing camera operators and commentators over headset comms while vision mixing, updating scoreboard, monitoring audio levels, and capturing and running replays through vMix. This heightened my soft skills in quick thinking, effective communication, and adaptability under pressure, a necessity in production (Gebesmair and Nölleke-Przybylski, 2022).

My parttime employment as a retail assistant and a care assistant have further developed transferrable skills. Both positions were people focused and required team cooperation and communication. In my role as a care assistant, I heightened my ability to anticipate and pre-emptively fulfil needs. This transfers to various production roles including runner and producer in relation to crew and contributors. Developing trusting relationships and consent are integral to the role of a care assistant, these skills are also important in the world of production, especially with contributors (Coleman, 2023).

With my time with Inne Ear I learnt about utilising AI for production efficiency and overcoming technical issues, this is an insight into the future of production, and is vital to utilise should wish to develop my own company. I have recently secured freelance work with QTV’s Master Control Room (MCR), which will further deepen my practical knowledge of professional broadcast systems.
